Masterclass & Lecture
Instruments & Focus Areas:
• Piano: Focused sessions on solo piano works and collaborative performance. Masterclasses will address various technical and interpretive issues faced by pianists, from beginners to advanced levels.
• Solo Performance: Designed for students who wish to present individual solo pieces. Each class will focus on performance skills, including interpretation, stage presence, and communication with the audience.
Lectures by Professors:
Professors and world-renowned musicians will provide in-depth lectures on various aspects of classical music, such as:
• Music theory and analysis
• Historical performance practices
• Pedagogical techniques for teaching classical music
• Career development for classical musicians in the modern age
Masterclass Schedule (21st - 25th July 2025):
The Masterclass sessions will run daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with breaks for lunch and short intermissions. Each day will focus on a different instrument group (Piano, Strings, Concerto, Solo) and July include performance and feedback sessions in the evening.

Arthur Greene
Piano Faculty at the University of Michigan School of Music

Arthur Greene was born in New York City. He received degrees from Yale, Juilliard, and Stony Brook. He studied with Martin Canin. Until recent events, he has spent summers with his extended family in Ukraine.
Mr. Greene treasures the inheritance of our rich piano repertoire, which he considers among humanity’s greatest achievements, and he is grateful for the opportunity to bring it to life and to share it with as many people as possible.
Mr. Greene was first prize winner in major international competitions. He has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the San Francisco, Utah, and National Symphonies, the Ukraine National Symphony, the Czech National Symphony, the Tokyo Symphony, and many others. He has played recitals in Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Moscow Rachmaninov Hall, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Lisbon Sao Paulo Opera House, Hong Kong City Hall and concert houses in Shanghai, Beijing, and Seoul, and all the major cities in Japan. He was an Artistic Ambassador to Serbia, Kosovo, and Bosnia for the United States Information Agency. Mr. Greene recorded the complete Etudes of Alexander Scriabin for Supraphon, and piano works of the Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko for Toccata Classics. He has made many recordings together with his wife, the violinist Solomia Soroka, for Naxos and Toccata. He has performed the 10 Sonata Cycle of Alexander Scriabin in many important international venues, including multi-media presentations with Symbolist artworks.

Arthur Greene is a member of the piano faculty of the University of Michigan. There he has won the Harold Haugh Award for Excellence in Studio Teaching. Mr. Greene and his students presented a recital series of the complete solo works of Chopin in nine concerts. He was Professor at Korea National University of Arts in Seoul for the academic year 2023-24.
Marian Hahn
Piano Faculty at the Johns Hopkins-Peabody Institute

Marian Hahn has taught piano and chamber music at the Peabody Institute since 1987. She has performed internationally as a soloist, and as a member of the Amabile Piano Quartet and Amadeus Trio. She was a prizewinner in the Leventritt and Busoni competitions and gave New York recitals as a Concert Artists Guild winner. She has served as a judge in competitions such as the Geneva International, Hilton Head, and Concert Artists Guild and has given guest master classes in China, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand. Ms Hahn received her BA from Oberlin College and her MM from the Juilliard School. Her teachers have included John Perry, Leon Fleisher and Benjamin Kaplan.
Yi-Yang Chen

Dr. Yi-Yang Chen, Steinway Artist and assistant professor of piano at the University of Kansas, shot onto the international stage with back-to-back victories in the 2018 Sussex International Piano Competition, 2017 Washington International Competition, and the Warning International Piano Competition. The Worthing Herald praised his performance in Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 5 “Egyptian” for his “flair for the unusual and his technical and artistic capacity to deliver,” along with “musical and emotional intelligence, dexterity and virtuosity.” Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Yi-Yang began piano at age 8. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts and Bachelor of Music degrees from the Eastman School of Music under Douglas Humpherys, and his Master’s degree from The Juilliard School under Robert McDonald and Jerome Lowenthal. He has worked in masterclasses with artists such as Itzhak Perlman, Emanuel Ax, Daniel Pollack, and Joseph Kalichstein.
Hui Wu

Praised as “sparkling” by The New York Times and “a rising star” by China Musical Weekly, pianist Hui Wu displays her versatility through a creative approach to programming, stemming from a contemporary/classical music duality. Her recent performance highlights include the west coast premiere of Merrill Songs by Matthew Aucoin; a multimedia project with artists Nova Jiang and Gaëlle Choisne in collaboration with the Los Angeles CleanTech Incubator (LACI) and The Mistake Room; as well as chamber music appearances at the Beverly Hills National Auditions Winners’ concert series.
Regulo Martinez-Anton

Described by American Record Guide as “An excellent artist who plays with great clarity, taste, and technical mastery,” Mr. Martinez-Anton is a versatile and passionate performing artist and has proven himself to be one of the most intriguing pianists of his generation. The LA Times stated, “With Martínez-Antón’s closing piano notes barely audible, this was a fine ending to a daring, most sublime, journey,” and Strings Magazine praised his performances, “(he) played beautifully with elegant, radiant tone.”

• Three One-on-One Lessons (60 minutes each)
Each participant will receive three one-hour lessons with different professors from our faculty.
• One Public Masterclass Performance (25–30 minutes)
Participants will perform in a public masterclass session, receiving live feedback from a professor in front of audiences.
• Full Access to All Lectures and Special Workshops
Attend a variety of academic lectures and focused workshops on music theory, pedagogy, career development, and more.
• Performance Opportunities Including Final Recital
Selected participants may perform in daily studio concerts and the final public concert, held at a professional recital venue.
